You Have Spoken!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has recently visited this blog and especially those who have directly contributed to it. If you have left comments or cast your vote in one or more the polls, please know we are grateful for your valuable input. Blogs are meant to be interactive and as a writer, it’s encouraging to know when you have touched a topical nerve, sparking relevant conversation. I hope you’ll continue to view this blog in that way, as a dialogue, and contribute as your schedule allows.

Having said that, I want to acknowledge what you have said through the recent polls. Let’s start with the name of FOCUS. Last month, I blogged about the name of the newest platform technology changing from FOCUS to MEDITECH Advanced Technology. If you were to ask anyone I work with, they would tell you I love to name things. In that spirit, I playfully threw out a few suggestions such as XMAGIC (MAGIC’s next generation) and asked you all what you thought. Your votes in the polls spoke loudly. Your favorite name (by one vote) is XMAGIC which will only further encourage me, but thank you anyway. Your second favorite is … drumroll … FOCUS! As I’ve stated before, I liked it too and I’m sad to see it go. Most interestingly however is the fact that out of 192 votes (as of this writing) Advanced Technology received a mere 4% (7 total votes). Even that was encouraging because we now know MEDITECH reads the blog.

In another recent post, I wrote about the rumors claiming there will be no third party applications in FOCUS. Your grandmother was right – everything comes back around given enough time. Just like bell-bottoms, leg warmers and pirate shirts, these are the same rumors that were once fashionable during the early years of MAGIC $T, MAGIC NPR and Client/Server NPR. Now it seems with the release of 6.x their time has come again. After sharing my thoughts on the subject, I wanted to know how effective these rumors had been, hence the poll. Not surprisingly, only 1 out of 31 voters actually believed the rumors. Again, it’s nice to know at least someone in Canton is reading these posts. The good news is the other 97% of you aren’t buying it at all, which is what I expected.

We promise to keep the blog posts coming along with the occasional polls and I encourage you all to keep making your voices heard. We’re listening and will use your suggestions to plan our next posts. Also, you never know who else is listening…
